#DifferenceMakers Picnic Recap

On Thursday, November 8, 2018, employees of Altoona First Savings Bank, Investment Savings Bank, and PennCrest BANK gathered together to celebrate Altoona’s own Troy M. Campbell, President and CEO of Altoona First Savings Bank, as he took over the reins as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers. He began his year as newly elected Chairman of the state-wide trade association promoting community banking by highlighting #DifferenceMakers within community banks.

Approximately 40 community bankers came out on that chilly Fall evening to help celebrate the new Chairman and develop the #DifferenceMakers culture, spreading the message that community bankers help people achieve dreams across Pennsylvania. The picnic was designed to bring community bankers together to share food and refreshments, and to participate in some friendly yard games, all while networking with fellow bank employees.

Mr. Campbell’s goal throughout his tenure is to highlight the #DifferenceMakers in our banks. These are the people who go above and beyond in helping and caring for their community. They look forward to going to work each and every day because they know they can, and will, make a difference in the lives of their friends, neighbors, and local businesses. These are folks that not only appreciate the impact they make in their community as a bank employee, but seek opportunities outside of the 9-5 to join in various revitalization, coaching or volunteering efforts in their neighborhood.

Mr. Campbell called attention to the fact that community bank employees are not just doing a job, they are enabling positive changes in their community every single day. They make small business, agricultural, student, and car loans, as well as provide first-time homebuyer assistance. Community banks provide the same products and services that the big banks do, with one exception — a personal touch. They know you, they know your family, they know the streets you grew up on, and will work with you to accomplish your goals. These folks are not only #DifferenceMakers, they are dream makers.

Stay tuned — #DifferenceMakers picnics will be popping up all over the state in the Spring and we want YOU to attend! Mr. Campbell would love to meet all 14,000 community bank employees in Pennsylvania. If you are interested in hosting a picnic, please reach out to Jena Wolgemuth (jena@pacb.org) at the PACB.
